POKOTABI / PLACES WORTH A DETOUR
神楽坂地蔵屋 本店
Tucked along an alley in Fukuro-machi up the slope from Kagurazaka, rice cracker specialist Jizō-ya offers crunchy hard-baked senbei, plain roasted crackers, and charming character shapes, with an outdoor vending machine for easy purchases anytime.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Up the hill from Kagurazaka in the quiet alleys of Fukuro-machi, Jizō-ya draws visitors in with the fragrant aroma of toasted soy sauce and a deeply satisfying crunch. The shop's signature katayaki hard-baked senbei are prized for their firm, substantial bite and slightly bold soy glaze, releasing a rustic savory depth and the fragrance of toasted rice with every chew. Traditional suyaki crackers are also on hand, unglazed and simply toasted to let the natural sweetness and aroma of the rice take center stage.
Alongside the time-honored soy sauce crackers, Jizō-ya also crafts senbei shaped like Hello Kitty, making them a well-received souvenir for children or an easy, charming gift. With an assortment of attractively packaged items on the shelves, browsing for presents makes for a pleasant diversion while exploring the neighborhood.
Over-the-counter sales primarily run from midday into the late afternoon on Saturdays and Sundays. However, a dedicated vending machine installed out front dispenses rice crackers even when the storefront is closed. At the counter, cashless mobile payments such as PayPay and Rakuten Pay are accepted, making it effortless to stop by during a stroll through Kagurazaka.
